John Convoy perfecting the art of juggling the trout at Loch Rusky on 2nd June. This one was safely returned after its ordeal. John had another which obliged him by jumping into the net. This place is a fishing gem of a location, patrolled by the nearby Ospreys. It was not an easy day out, very bright and very changeable winds. For 4 rods we managed double figures.

The recent club outing to Bowden Springs was pretty successful. Of the 9 members who attended, seven had fish. Top catch of the day was our VP, Harry Millar whose magnificent 9lb Brownie fell early on, to a Clan Chief. His new net was to wee, they had to run to borrow a bigger net. The fish was safely released.

The first fish of the Bowden springs outing was picked up right at the start by Ronnie Weir on a Yellow Dancer. Here he is wrestling with it at the net. (Apologies the morning haar rather misted the photo light) Well done Ronnie!

A fine Loch Rusky rainbow trout falling to a Cats Whisker. This lure was barbless and the fish was safely returned.

John Convoy and Mike Love on Loch Rusky fishing in bright and difficult conditions. The days 4 rods managed 5 fine rainbow trout.

So how did George McIntosh from “up the braes” manage to photo bomb our own George Thompson and John Convoy on Linlithgow loch. East winds and the sun splitting the sky made the loch a hard days fishing, but we had a new champion this year, by only a few ounces!

Saturday the 9th September saw the open day sunshine bring out budding champions. The weather was glorious, but perhaps not for fishing, it was bright and sunny. Here are the optimists before the event, and the Champions after the event.

The Biggest fish, a cracking 5 pounder was caught by our VP Harry Miller and the best bag returned by Bill Salmond here seen soaking up the plaudits.

All credit to George Thompson and John Reynolds who tied for second place with bags of exactly the same weight. They sportingly tossed a coin, for George to take the honour.

Big thanks for Harry for organising the day, and Bridget for providing the fabulous lunch.
