WE have pencilled the dates of the weekend of the 23rd and 31st August for INNS spraying.
Watch this space for detail. We have fully trained sprayers but they will need gophers to do a bit of fetching and carrying. In advance of this we will walk the river to audit sites of Invasive species, they start to show in June. We are interested in locations of Japanese knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Skunk cabbage. If you see any of this leave it well alone but report it to us so that we can include it on our spray site list. If you want to know how to ID this then join us on our audit walk.
Himalayan balsam is everywhere, feel free to pull this stuff out when you see it, it is easy to pul as the roots stay near the surface. It undermines the soil which means in flood it will help the soil wash away and silt up the river.
