Last Saturday evening I popped down to the Quarry Bridge pool at around 20.30 with the thought to fish a Connemara black along the bedrock ledges in the hope of surprising a trout or maybe even a sea trout. What I found was disgusting, see the picture, the river being heavily polluted. I abandoned the fishing and popped up to the Bridge Inn to see the river in the same state, so the problem was further upstream. This is a rare event these days but if you find this then do let the river managers know, you can find our contacts on the contacts page on this site.
Better still call SEPA yourself on 0800 80 70 60.
Fortunately by Wednesday the river was once again running clear. I intend to try again around dusk this weekend.
I have contacted sepa twice in the last 3 years about pollution from a tributary around the quary bridge area ,they got back to me saying they had alerted a very locaĺ to the bridge company about the problem and stated that if the pollution could be videod it would be a good help ,,was this pollution accompanied by a smell as most are,!or by a LANDSLIDE,,which can colour the water for for as long as it takes to disperse ,thanks brian darrien ,A.K.A ( the wet fly chucker)
