Were there no trophies presented for fish caught on the river Avon ?
There were some really good fish caught this season .
HI Neil, sorry about the delayed reply, I only just saw this. The reason is that there is no current way of tracking who is catching what on the river and when. We rely on the end of season catch returns which are sometimes not calculated until after the AGM date. Its a fair point as we have had 100 members over the last two season and whilst it is predominantly a River club, the competitions are easier to organise by way of the outings. In truth the outings attendees are drawn from approx 2 dozen members although they are open to all. This seasons outings have been arranged and they will be announced in the coming week together with a booking spreadsheet. Harking back to the river, despite a healthy membership the two days we arranged last season, the opening day and the Mayfly day were poorly attended, indeed the Mayfly Day saw myself and the secretary complete with drinks and BBQ on our own down by the river which is kinda disappointing. I will however bring this up at our February committee meeting. BR Neil (president)
HI Neil, all the competitive events are based around still water outings. It is quite difficult to run a river competition as it is rare to so many anglers on the river at any one time, also to arrange a pool allocation and given that nearly all fish are returned it would be hard to compile. You are correct there have been some cracking fish taken from the Avon……….not by me I might add, I have caught a fair few but all relatively modest. One day……..soon!
