Japanese Knotweed

We have completed a substantial audit on the banks of the River Avon and its main burns, Mains, Manual and Cauld, and are pretty certain we know the locations of all Japanese Knotweed stands. We are completing the paperwork and training with a view to commence spraying to eradicate this particular invasive species. One side benefit has been the realisation that the burns have many barriers and blockages which may prevent the spawning journeys of Sea trout and Salmon. Next spring, after the spates, we will revisit this with a view to clearance, quite probably with monthly clearance days to try to improve the flow situation in the burns and the redds therein. In this regard we will need help, young help. Forewarned is fore armed!
