It is with regret that we only learned of Alans passing this morning, the day of his funeral.
Alan was a club stalwart and along with his pal the late Johnny Hamilton did much of the mapping and early development of our beloved River Avon. A dry fly purist and also a lover of grayling fishing he was a go to for trout fishing advice on our river. His early River manager diaries contain a wealth of information. Alan introduced me to kick sampling, entomology and the world of Ephemeroptera (mayflies). He was indeed a gentle man, sorely missed.
